What If My Child Can’t Stand in the Pool? 💦

For young children, being in water where they can’t touch the bottom can feel scary. That’s why learning to swim isn’t just about strokes — it’s also about knowing what to do when they can’t stand.

At Little Orcas, we teach children to:

  • Stay calm

  • Keep kicking and paddling

  • Move towards the pool edge

  • Hold on once they reach safety

Doggy paddle is one of the simple skills that helps with this. It teaches children to coordinate their arms and legs to keep moving through the water, helping them feel more confident when they can’t stand.

These basic skills help children become more comfortable and in control in the water, while building a strong foundation for swimming. 🏊‍♂️💙
